Like everyone else, I loved Altuzarra Spring 2014, but he captured the sexy sophisticated look most women want to achieve. Molten metals, casual stripes, and fresh whites were crafted into staid knee lengths but with a tantalizing swathe of leg on the side. My favorite piece was that liquid silver skirt, but I wouldn't shed any tears if the black and white version ended up in my closet.

Tome is new to me but I've fallen quickly for the softly structured pieces they presented for Spring 2014. They make the kind of perfect clothing that you won't be the girl that demands all of the attention in the room, but enough twist that you aren't the girl that fades into the background. Just the girl that gets asked, "Where did you find that dress?"
Hanneli Mustaparta showed up at fashion week sporting white overalls, which was followed by a pair coming down the runway at Rag & Bone. I'm curious to know if she got an early peek at the collection or if this is just another example of her being ahead of the curve.

Rag & Bone is rarely a miss for me, and the Spring 2014 collection is no exception. The 90's revisited by a designer yet again, in a seen that before but updated enough that I need it in my closet kind of way.
This collection's pieces span the entire 90's decade. There's the oversized blazer and fold down pants of the early 90's, the grungy mid 90's, and the lean, athletic looks of the late 90's.

I have two different inspiration boards set up as I try to decide what direction I'm going with the nursery. One is based around a set of colorful 1930's prints that I bought several years ago at a flea market.
I've been looking for a small black crib with modern lines but having a hard time finding a lot that I love. My favorite crib so far has been the Sebra Kili crib, but good luck trying to get one into the US. At least my google skills have failed me in that department.
Another on my list has been the very simple Ikea Sniglar crib. I like that it is simple, inexpensive, and you have views from the baby from every side.
My sister mentioned Walmart cribs to me and I was surprised to find one that I liked a lot. The Modena isn't black, but grey is my favorite color. However, it would change how I was going to decorate the baby's room with the vintage prints.
My next hurdle is to find a rug and some shelving!
Thanks to a what appears to be a kickboxer residing in my stomach, I was cruising the internet when J.Crew's New arrivals popped up early this morning. I was wide awake after a couple of minutes, saying "oh, that's good" with every other click. Lots of minimalist 90's going on there, and I like it.
I burned rubber going to the store on my lunch break once I found out the Merino Leather Pocket Sweater had just been put out on the floor. I was expecting it to be lightweight but it is a substantial, tight knit. I ended up bringing that home, though it will be weeks before it's cool enough to wear it (not to mention that certain protruding stomach). I've got my eye on that Fluted Skirt in Double Crepe in ivory as well.
They didn't have the intriguing Patch Pocket Pencil Skirt in yet, but I love it paired with the super luxe Collection Double Faced Cashmere Tee.
I would probably destroy the white Leather Front Top in about two seconds, but it doesn't stop me from lusting after it anyway.
I'm still craving a pair of silver shoes, and the Strappy Mirror Metallic Pumps look about perfect.
It seems every fashion season there is a claim to the return of grunge with various riffs on the design. The pretty/tough version is my favorite, like what Miss Daisy Lowe is wearing above.

These drop waist, flared skirts popping up everywhere will make dressing easy come fall. I have my eye on the Magra Swing skirt at Anthropologie and the Fluted Skirt in Double Crepe from J.Crew.
Equal parts styling and beautiful basics have me loving La Garconne's new in-house collection. I'm working on simplifying my life as we prepare for the baby, with my closet being number one on the list. Wanting to return to a more streamlined wardrobe has been in the works for a while, but now it is a necessity.
This doesn't mean I'm giving up pretty pieces! To be honest I've spent more money on clothing in the last two months for when I'm no longer pregnant than I have maternity clothing (thank you awesome auctions and sales). So far I've only bought two dresses and a few sized up tops from the thrift store to fit my ever expanding belly. But I've always favored pieces that stood on their own and clean lines, so those are the items I'll be shopping for in the future.
I already own a few similar pieces to the ones above so I'm going to steal some of the styling ideas. A vintage white silk shift dress will be layered over a long sleeve dark tee, and a silky white skirt will be paired with a chunky knit sweater (maybe the Maline one in the 3rd picture). I'm really wanting a pair of straight leg crop jeans like the Artist ones, so those are going on my new wish list as well. And a 90's nude slip dress might be getting a turtleneck topping.
Chanel seems to be pulling a MAC and coming out with all kinds of collections for September. It's been hard to keep up so I've corralled the pieces that have piqued my interest here. Nude pink is my Achilles heel, especially when it has a bit of shine. The nailpolish, Rose Moire, will be part of Collection Moire. The blush, Accent, is from the Nuit Infinie Holiday collection.
I thought Fashion's Night Out was canceled, but apparently Chanel will still be producing a collection for it. It looks like a black glittery nail polish and eyeliner will be part of the set. Lastly, I've been wanting a vampy lipcolor for fall and the Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Controversy looks perfect (also part of the Moire collection).
