Moodboard confession: I didn't watch Last Tango in Paris in its entirety. I've never found Marlon Brando attractive, especially as a bloated, older love interest wielding butter in unappealing ways. So instead, I watched it with the volume off and just fast forwarded to all the parts that looked visually interesting.
The reason why I wanted to see the movie in the first place was because of actress Maria Schneider. I came across an article about her in a 1970's Vogue and became intrigued by the images accompanying the article. In the article—last picture above—she is wearing a men's hat, and she wears the same one throughout the movie.
My favorite scene is when she shops for a wedding dress in a vintage clothing store with red-haired twin store clerks. The twins are slightly scary, but they had on fantastic choker necklaces and I kept trying to capture pictures of them.
In another scene she is wearing a captain's jacket while looking though a swiss dotted curtain, and it is such a great juxtaposition of masculine and feminine elements.
