So in love with this vibrant editorial in MarchVogue. I'm normally not into orange but I love the way it was used here.
What inspiration I'm taking away from these images:
1. That laid back Cali-in-the-70's vibe

I've had a tiny picture of this bedroom in an inspiration folder for years. I had no idea where it was from, but I was in love with that bed. Fast forward to this week, when I found a new article about the owners, Robbie Spina and Joe Zito, in the November/December issue of Australia Vogue Living. They are the designers behind Spina Design, which creates gorgeous bespoke tassels and chandeliers.
I want these dip-dyed tassels hanging from every door in my house.

I blogged about Ashley Stark's home when it was featured in Domino, and was excited to see her new apartment in Elle Decor. I thought it would be fun to see how she incorporated old pieces into new spaces.

What do you think of the changes? I still love her before dressing room with that fantastic changing screen. What do I like that is new? The update of the printed rug that contrasts perfectly with her snakeskin bench. And I don't know if there is a bad place to put a vintage Tommi Parzinger cabinet, but it looks great in the new dining room.

I'll try to promise not to post anymore about the December issue of House Beautiful, but I keep turning back to these two pages. The spread is perfect with the juxtaposition of light and dark, print and pattern.
This is a little traditional gone wild, and I like it. The home we are looking at has a similar chandelier in it, and I made sure that it comes along with the house if we buy it.

I have a habit of straightening magazine racks as I browse them. It drives me crazy when bookstores have the current month out without pulling last month's or magazines are piled on top of each other.
Anyway, that is how I came across an old issue of Elle Decoration France. I have never seen this version at our bookstore, and I did a double take when I saw it wadded up in a back shelf behind another magazine. I'm so happy I did though, because I adore this home belonging to architect Laura Gonzalez.
Her home is a modern take on shabby chic, with a great mix of of gorgeous wallpaper, Southwestern textiles, vintage pieces, and shiny objects. I also love the color scheme of soft grey, matte black and warm caramel.

Like most fashion lovers, I'm in awe of Daphne Guinness. I think she has truly remarkable taste and I was excited to see her apartment in the newly revised Architectural Digest. It is just as exotically eccentric as she is, and I think the picture above is my favorite corner in her home.
It is sedate compared to the rest of the home, but I love that green chinoserie screen paired with the charcoal grey velvet chair and yellow accents.

Domino Magazine's November 2008 issue remains one of my all time faves, and this spread is one of the reasons why. Stylist after my own heart Kim Ficaro and fashion director Lauren Goodman took the Turn this Outfit into a Room concept and ran with it. The result is an a gorgeous editorial along with Ariana Speyer's ability to convey the feeling of the pictures into words.

How gorgeous is this editorial of Rodarte's Spring 2011 collection in Vogue magazine? If I thought I loved the collection before, I definitely do now.
I'm also thinking that the rich textures and colors would be perfect for a dining room as well: tooled leather, Ming Dynasty blue, creamy mint green, accents of amber and faux bois pattern.

This editorial for me is less about the Ralph Lauren clothing and more about the overall aesthetic. Not that I don't like Ralph Lauren;) If you ever get a chance stop by his RRL store on Prince St in New York, the styling and vintage props are fantastic.
But back to this editorial. There is an odd problem in the living room of our new apartment, which I'll share with you later when we move in. I'm hoping I can incorporate it into to the bohemian luxe style I'm loving right now(but isn't everyone?). For my living room I'm thinking soft textures like sheepskin, Native American or Turkish style rugs, wood furniture and spots of shine.
Of course my preferences can turn on a dime, but hopefully not too much since I just purchased a large vintage rug for the living room with a Native American-ish design.
Oh, and does anyone know what that dandelion-eque flower/plant is in the first image?

I was flipping through my old Domino magazines this weekend, paying particular attention to pages I had marked. While my tastes have shifted some, I found myself still loving a lot of what I marked. One of my favorites is the "Can this outfit be turned into a room?" column.
Not only does this particular outfit look like something I would wear, but I love the room that it inspired as well.
Domino labels this room rustic and refined, which sums it up perfectly. What am I noting about this room for inspiration?
