I have several DIY projects that I've been putting off for too long. This is easy to do when you collect used and vintage items that you feel need love just as much as anyone else. Most things need a tweak here and there, but some need a complete overhaul. I thought if I started posting them I would be able to keep a running list that I can't avoid.
I found this girl on our way home from Los Angeles. We were on a combined family reunion/cross country road trip which turned out to be a blast. We stopped at every thrift store we could spot from the road and by the time we got to the family reunion, the car was packed.
Does that ever stop me? Mr. M's brother wanted to stop at the local peddler's mall so he could look for used Nintendo games. Not my favorite place to shop, as they always have that weird life behind the circus atmosphere, but you never know what you might find.
After wading through acres of video tapes and shirts with weird slogans, I saw this table out of the corner of my eye. The man selling it wanted $15 for it, and I offered $7. He balked and bellowed, "Don't you know how old this is?"
I scuttled away without counteroffering, chagrined at lowballing the seller. For the next 10 minutes in the car I fretted over leaving her behind, thinking what an idiot to pass it up for $15! Mr. M noticed my look of despair(Anne Shirley style) and asked, "Do you want to go back?"
We spun the car around and thank goodness for Mr. M's brother, wise in the way of peddler mall negotiating. He secured the table for $10 and now I just have to fix her up.

The top wood veneer has been torn away, and I'm either going to paint it black to match the trim around the edges, or place a mirror cut to size. There are also notches on the leg for a second shelf, which should be an easy fix.
Someone let ruby red nail polish drip on some spots on a leg, and I'm trying to decide if I want to remove or keep in remembrance of the glamorous owner before me.
