We are just now starting to unpack our madness, and most things are right where the moving guys left them two weeks ago. I've had some things in storage for several years, so it's been like Christmas opening the boxes and rediscovering lost treasures. The light was so beautiful today that I though I would snap a few pics so you could see the chaos that we are living in right now.
The white dishes were bought about four years ago from Anthropologie. The white chandelier is from West Elm (also about four years ago). I found the Paul McCobb set at a vintage store for $100 because one chair has a bad leg.
We still need to remove the old wallpaper in this room and take up the laminate floor that they put down over top of the original wood. *bangs head*
We have six fireplaces, including one in the foyer. Thrifted desk lamp that I think is from the 30's with a great Art Deco design. At one point I thought about painting it, but I'll probably just leave it alone. What do you guys think?
A lot of crazy going on in this room, but I haven't had the energy to tackle it yet besides using it as an unloading zone. The vintage sofa is getting new fabric (something I'm hoping to tackle myself) and probably going upstairs into the guest room. I found it at a thrift stores years ago for $20.
The floor-to-ceiling cabinet in the old library that I'm converting to a walk in closet. One of the selling points of the house for me;) I may have squealed for about 10 minutes.
Our vintage headboard in a lovely king size, I'm guessing from the 50's or 60's? It's been in storage forever and now we are getting it restained and reupholstered (it will remain tufted). The vintage white glass lamps were found at Goodwill.
So in love with this vibrant editorial in MarchVogue. I'm normally not into orange but I love the way it was used here.
What inspiration I'm taking away from these images:
1. That laid back Cali-in-the-70's vibe
2. Pops of color (bright pink, warm orange, cherry red) mixed with black and shine

I was already excited for our delayed Valentine's dinner tonight and now our paint samples have arrived. Eek! We are trying to choose colors for the foyer, dining room, and living room.
I'm also trying to choose what I'm wearing tonight. This is one possibility:
Thrifted vintage midnight blue leather skirt and bright blue suede top. I love how the boxy shape skims the body but has a plunging neckline in the back and front.

I love everything about this coat, and the bag with the pistachio green strap is pretty great as well.
Pink granny pants. I like 'em.
I keep getting drawn back to this dress. It reminds me of a 1960's wool suit but keep the print hold the bulk.
And oddly enough, I own a pair of vintage cord pants that remind me of this pair. Which means I really need that sweater, in all of its crisscross pattern glory.
For anyone that has read this blog for a while, you know how I feel about snakeskin, as seen here and here. The skirt is pretty bold, and probably out of my price range anyway, but the small bag looks just right.

The gorgeous coats and crazy cargo jodhpurs held the biggest allure for me with the Altuzzara collection. I'm also in love with that deep purplish-blue color he used. We are waiting on a paint sample from Farrow & Ball in a similar color that I hope works in our foyer.
Olivier Theyskens offers up beautifully consistent looks for Theory season after season. This particular outfit is being tacked up on my inspiration board.

I love a white suit and the Magnified Fishnet Turtleneck in merino wool was one of my favorite pieces in the whole collection. Also available on Moda Operandi today for $795. (I have nothing to do with this company, just sharing price and info).

I'm a little disconnected from fashion week right now, as I'm still trying to get our house contained. We have busted pipes causing all kinds of fun in the laundry room and bathroom above it. Then my car was hit Monday by a gentleman that should no longer be driving. I'm scheduled to get my hair highlighted later today, as I have roots down to my shoulders, but if this trend continues it will probably turn out orange.
But I'm hanging in there, still trying to peruse all of the shows online, but it is a lot to digest in a short amount of time.
And then comes Marc Jacobs collection to lighten the mood. It's the type of whimsy you like to see on the runway, and exactly the thing jaded fashion folk tend to eat up. It's always the most minimalist and most weird pieces that become the hits from the collections.
Not that I thought everything was fantasy. That pink hat? I want it. Even if just to hang jauntily from the corner of a chair in my bedroom. I'll take that furry 1960's style coat as well. The teal green lantern coat and what looks like a pink scarf with bold black embroidery? Yes, please. The skirt with what looks like Christmas tinsel stripes? Deliciously kooky.

I've been packing and unpacking for the last week, but I wanted to pop in and wish everyone Happy Valentine's Day!
Several years ago a certain boy asked a girl out for Valentine's Day but retracted the offer all in the same phone call. He tried again for a date three days later and the girl decided to give him a second chance. Good thing, as he turned out to be the man she was going to marry. So readers, if you think you have a knucklehead on your hands, it may turn out that they are just shy in matters of the heart;)

Loeffler Randall is celebrating the launch of their new Heart LR line. The collection consists of weekend perfect sandals and clogs, like the lace up Kaysa featured above. I can't decide if I love the black and wood contrast or the all nude better.
