Stylish Girl: Sarah Jessica Parker in Louis Vuitton Spring 2012

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 was one of my favorite collections from the season. I'm not surprised Sarah was one of the first to wear Marc's feminine frocks.

Marni for H&M

I knew when I received the press release yesterday that the online world would be hammered with posts about H&M's collaboration with Marni. I thought I would give it a day and poke around the video to see if there was anything I'm loving. Well, of course, it is Marni.

I passed on the Versace frenzy and missed out on the Missoni/Target snafu, so I hope that allows me a little room to ooh and aah over this collection. Like those chunky green cuffs above. Yes.

Hats that are reminiscent of the 1960's.

Silver platform heels that have some promise.

I spot a sequin collar, but what would a Marni collection be without a tie on collar?

Flat metallic sandals. Yes.

Black flowers strewn about your neck? Yes. Quirky patterns with quirky colors? Yes. Can't wait until March!

Gauzy Mint Maxi Dress, $138 and Heikki Blouse, $268 Here I go again stepping into the twee pond but so hard to resist bows down the back.

More than the pieces I really just like this outfit though it doesn't really make sense in non-photoshoot life. It has that allure of wearing something that completely covers with something that leaves you bare. 

I like button down shirts paired with maxi skirts.

Contented Sweater Skirt, $118 This airy knit reminds me of a vintage vest that I own. 

Pattern Call Blouse $228 and Pale Borders Blouse, $198 I love both these blouses but they exceed my personal budget limit for a top.

Azure Rung Hoops, $118 I don't normally buy new jewelry but these looked stunning on the model.

Paned and Pocketed Plaid A-Line Skirt, $178 Didn't skirts like this use to be $128? I really like the check pattern though.

Hildasay Sweater, $128 I can't seem to quit buying sweaters, especially ones with funky patterns.

 

Kate Moss & Stella McCartney at British Fashion Awards 2011

I love how Kate's dress plays off the print of Stella's suit in this photo. I'm not sure who made Kate's dress, but it looks vintage to me. Maybe 1930's or a 1970's take on the 1930's?

Review: Forever 21 Embellished Geo Clutch

I didn't think this bag was going to arrive in time to take it out of town with me. After going through UPS and then the USPS, it is finally here 10 days later. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like waiting for a mail order for longer than three days, especially if the item is small enough to fit in a mailbox.

That being said, I love it! It is a higher price point than most of Forever 21's bags, but it has a great design and it is heavily beaded front and back. I'll let you know if it falls apart after one wear, but it feels sturdy. It has a flat envelope shape—5.5" H x 10" W—and best to just hold the essentials.

Editorial Style: Jane Birkin + Lou Doillon in Glamour

Pretty much obsessed with this editorial in the December issue of Glamour magazine. It was shot by Bruce Weber, and features the stylish mother-daughter duo Lou Doillon and Jane Birkin. Easily one of my favorites of 2011, thanks to fashion editor Anne Christensen.

More of the same that I've been loving: wooly sweaters, funky prints, and vivid colors  grounded by moto boots and old men jackets.

Sister Style: Marlien Rentmeester + Le Catch

I've long admired Marlien Reentmeester's style, as seen here, here and here. Now she is sharing that great style with everyone, as she has started a new blog, Le Catch (found via Clare's great site, Seevivier.com). 

Marlien and her equally talented sister Coliena have also made another appearance on Madewell.com's Sisters column.

In Her Closet: Thrifting Bonanza

1960's print dress that I think is a mixture of wool and silk.

70's wool knit skirt, which might have been my favorite find. I'm now obsessed with crazy printed skirts.

1970's ski sweater with a chevron design and marled knit. Actually, this might be my favorite find of the day.

1970's maxi skirt that oddly reminds me of a Klimt painting.

I swore I wasn't going to buy any more necklaces, but I couldn't pass up this signed 70's brass and bead one.

70's cable knit cashmere sweater of my dreams.

I have no idea when this Ralph Lauren jacket was released. It has a USA union made tag, but I believe Ralph Lauren's higher priced lines are still being made in the US? I love this velvet jacket because the sleeves are extra long and have these gorgeous beaded cuffs.

This is my bounty from a thrifting sale I mentioned on Twitter the other day. A local thrift store has a yearly sale in which they release all their fall item donations from the past year. They even have a vintage section, but I usually just avoid that area because dealers fight over those racks.

This year you entered through the men's department, but I noticed a rack of dresses out of the corner of my eye. I decided to go investigate, and realized for some reason they had left the women's vintage in that section as well. I had exactly two minutes to myself in that rack before the dealers realized they had been led astray and had turned around screeching like The Nazgul from Lord of the Rings. But two minutes was all I needed to scoop up 70's hostess skirts, 60's dress and cashmere sweaters.
