Some more 1970's fashion that rocks my world: expanses of flesh set off by gleaming gold chains, mirrored sunglasses, and minimal pieces. A simple sexy equation that is just my style.

My fashion tastes have been evolving, and I've been trying to cut back on buying girly, twee-ish pieces. Not that there is anything wrong with feminine clothing, but I've amassed plenty of it in my wardrobe. And just as soon as I state that I'm wanting a change, I stumble across this circa 1989 Laura Ashley skirt.
It is a little Lisa Turtle, a little Isabel Marant, and I thought I could find some room in my closet for it. The silver bracelets are a mix of vintage and some pieces given to me by my grandmother. I'm glad the focus is on the wrists again, because I wrestle with wearing necklaces and normally turn to bracelets for adornment.

I've suddenly decided that I need a pair of taupe boots for fall. The Dicker boots by Isabel Marant have been on the list for a while, but I'm also thinking a higher heel as well. The Pencey Sylvia Boot is an obvious knockoff of Vivienne Westwood's Pirate boot, but I do admit I like the shorter ankle length.
Love the idea of sweet printed day dresses with menswear style shoes.

Pajama dressing is the perfect antidote for the oppressive heat wave we are experiencing. Though the blazer ties everything together, the thought of wearing right now makes me want to pass out. It more likely my outfit consists of loose tanks atop silk pants that billow in the breeze.

There is no secret of my love for snakeskin on this blog. I have a collection of vintage bags and belts—a couple of them are featured here– that battle for room on my closet shelves. The love for that print also extends to clothing, like this dress that I wore to fashion week in New York last September. I got a lot of questions about it, and little did I know how much this trend was going to blow up a year later. Though I've sent the dress on to a better home, there are now many things to fill that hole in my closet.
Also, I find it ironic that Hannah MacGibbon is out at Chloe while her Fall 2011 collection is showing up in editorial after editorial. On to the next one Hannah!

Schoolboy Blazer in Academy Stripe, $198-This isn't my usual style, but lately I've been drawn to bolder prints and looks. I'm not into the 1980's version of prep, but a 1970's collegiate look is always great for fall.
Skinny Leather Belt in Cobalt Blue, $34-I wrestle with wearing belts as much as I do with necklaces. They never seem part of the outfit, but somehow just sitting on my clothing. That being said, I'm still in love with vibrant blue.
Cashmere Ribbed Sweater, $248-I tend to like the men's clothing more than the women's, so this boyish sweater is on my my wish list. Meaning I wish it was $50 cheaper;)
Gold Coin Skirt, $245-I really wish they hadn't put a black waistband on this skirt, but I love the idea of ivory silk chiffon dappled with metallic dots.
This leopard clutch is all over the new arrivals images, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Is it old? Not released yet?
Another item I couldn't find, the quadruple strapped satin heels.
Darlington Satchel in Bright Indigo, $278-I'm not sue how I feel about the puffy quilting on the sides, but the purple-blue color is pretty fantastic. Actually, this outfit reminds me of something Bonnie Cashin would have designed, so thumbs up to the whole look.
