Charlotte Ronson & Lili Diallo in Glamour Magazine

The March issue of Glamour magazine includes a glimpse of designer Charlotte Ronson's apartment, as photographed by the always brilliant Melanie Acevado. There are also some tips from stylist Lili Diallo on organizing your home and furnishing it on a budget.

If you want to see how Charlotte's apartment has changed, I featured it back in 2009 when it was in the sadly now defunct House & Garden. I love that she still owns the vintage Bardot poster!

*Oh, and does anyone else remember that floral iron bed from Anthropologie?

Favorite Runway Looks: Marni Fall 2011

I'm loving the art deco-ish color combination of inky black, pale peach and vivid green.

Emerald colored fur continues to dominate, as seen here and here. I love it paired with that coral dress.

More gorgeous knits with intricate prints.

 

Marni never fails in using my favorite color palettes on the runway, and there is usually a print I fall in love with as well. I don't think a lot of people were crazy for the shoes, but you know how I feel about wood heels and snakeskin.

Oh, and how fantastic was the runway background?

Favorite Runway Looks: Prada Fall 2011

This is a Moodboard outfit if I've ever seen one.

I freaking love these cheeky little shoes, which manage to look sweet and sexy at the same time. 

I'd take any of the snakeskin bags in the collection but this color way is one of my favorites.

More emerald colored furs to love in Milan.

The Mary Jane/Boot hybrid makes another runway appearance.

When I was watching the show I kept squinting trying to figure out if the fur was a capelet with sequin trim or just part of the dress. I really wish it was a stand alone piece so you could layer it over anything.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Prada S/S 2011 collection, but I'm not a banana print and striped brights kind of gal. Though the fur stoles, braided leather heels, and ornate sunglasses were at the top of my spring accessories want list. The snakeskin, sequins, and 1960's influences that walked down the runway for fall were much more aligned with my aesthetic.

I'm cracking up at the comments I'm reading online about the way the models are cradling their bags. That's how I hold mine when I'm walking! It's the most comfortable for me, but maybe I think of my bags as babies;)

Not a lot catching my eye in the new arrival section at J.Crew this morning. The only thing I really loved was the Lace Popover and I'm not paying $200 for it. 

 

Favorite Runways Looks: Gucci Fall 2011

Stylist Catherine Baba immediately came to mind when I sat down to look at Gucci's Fall 2011 collection. The gradient tinted glasses, low-slung hat, and oversized furs all echo her signature 70's glam style.

I liked the tipped colored furs, little swing jacket, and that cerulean blue color.

Favorite Runway Looks: Mary Katrantzou Fall 2011

 

I spent the better part of last night just trying to absorb Mary Katrantzou's Fall 2011 collection. It took me forever to narrow down my favorite looks, since I was amazed at the immense detail that went into every piece.

There were a lot of quirky shapes, but the designs are gorgeous. I'm obsessed with the pink portion of that first dress and have already tacked the detail shot to my moodboard. Not only would I love to wear some of these pieces but they are inspiring my apartment decoration as well.

Wishlist: Anthropologie Le Versha Chair

I love these scrolly chairs designed by artist David Le Versha for Anthropologie. I think my favorite  is the red version, but the turquoise is a close second. Anthropologie, $248

Yohji Yamamoto at the Victoria and Albert Museum

My travel budget is looking woefully small next to the large list of museum exhibits I want to see this year. On this must see list is the Yohji Yamamoto exhibition at the Victoria and Alert Museum from March 12, 2011-July 10, 2011.

If you don't get a chance to fly to London you may still find some solace online. Their gift shop will have exclusive and special edition pieces, including bags made from fabric used in his S/S 2011 Men's collection.

I think my favorite pieces are the funny notebooks that feature a direct quote from Yamamoto. V&A Shop, £3.75

Dream Bids: Lena Horne Auction

Unbelievably beautiful. Anyone want to buy me an early Christmas present? The swan neck, the chair, and that white dress. Oh, that dress. Painting by artist Geoffrey Holder of Lena in 1959.

I'm browsing the catalog for the Lena Horne auction going off at 10am at Doyle and pretending I can bid on items. 

 

This Chinese art deco screen would fit nicely into my bedroom plans.

Love the baby interlocking C's on this sequined Chanel bag.

Gorgeous pink color in this oil painting by American artist Charles Alston. 

The English Lit major in me would love the vintage Langston Hughes books inscribed to Lena.

 

How Do You Organize Your Closet?

When my closet is organized, it is separated by type: tops, jackets, skirts, pants, and dresses. Thanks to Moda Operandi's Aslaug Magnusdottir, I'm now going to spend the next couple of days organizing it by color. Not only does it look pretty, but I'm thinking it will also help me see things in a new light and create fresh combinations.

I'm also going to try to be more diligent about sorting them by type after color, but I can't make any promises;)
