Home Profile: Tooshie's Natascha Wittgenstein

When Natascha Wittgenstein, co-owner of Tooshie, first saw this Manhattan apartment it was a men's bathroom. It was being converted into an artist's studio, with the promise of natural light and beautiful views.

She sacrificed having a kitchen, something she rarely used, to have an extra sleeping loft built in. For something so industrial, I think she turned it into a bright and functioning space on a budget.

Here is another use of Bill Blass scarves, this time used as wall art. 

The mantle was found in the basement, an old prop from a theatre on the first floor of her building. She stained her mismatched floors a cohesive shade of black.

Home Profile: Elizabeth Pyne

Another favorite light and dark pairing belonging to the home of Elizabeth Pyne, a specialist at Sotheby's. She was thinking of using Osborne & Little's Papilio Alium fabric for curtains when she got the idea to cover her walls with it. Deliciously luxe and I'm sure way out of my price range, but I enjoy it all the same.

I love when you see complimentary but contrasting color from room to room.

Errands & Twitter

 

Whoops, this day is getting away from me. I'm running around doing errands since the sun finally decided to come out.

How adorable is the cover above? This magazine was on my Paris flight last summer and I took it with me. As always I love the juxtaposition of light & dark.

I'll be working on twitter tonight, trying to comb through all the followers. Flickr is so much easier, since I can usually tell right away if a person has similar tastes and seems sane;) I've gotten some really odd Twitter followers and I've been avoiding it. 

Is there a setup where you can put who you are following in categories? I have some I like to read through for news in the morning, and others just for updates on their blogs. Otherwise I can see my list getting a bit crazy.

Once the dust clears I hope to have another post up this evening and back to a morning and afternoon post starting tomorrow.

Flashback: Tim Walker & Tickled Pink

Continuing the pink theme, I thought you would like to see some more vintage Tim Walker. I love how he managed to get the models to really laugh and smile. I wonder if there was a certain puppy nibbling on toes to give him some help?

Oh, and I still love Kirsty Hume's hair.
