I'm going to admit that I kinda dig the gilt bed, dark sheets, fur throw, glittery thigh highs, messy hair, and mayjah kohl lined eyes. The end.

In Her Closet: Vinette Varvaro Dress

I finally got this vintage dress back from my tailor and he screwed up the hem. He is the best in town, but he takes on too much and I think he outsources some of it. This was one of those long, 80's shift styles that I thought could be made fresher by just changing the hem. 

We dickered back and forth over how short, as he kept saying what if you want to wear a belt with it? I don't wear many belts, and I like a clean look, so we finally compromised on an above knee length. Well, when he got finished it was Balmain short. Maybe instead of knee HIGH he heard THIGH?

Well enough about him, more about the dress. It is made made out of silk and feels like nothing on, which is the best thing ever. But why I thought it would work was the nude background, small jutting shoulders, and the abstract painterly design. I looked up the designer, Vinette Varvaro, and discovered she is no longer designing clothing, but is now working in as an artist.

In Her Home: Vintage Library Art

 

I meant to post this the other day when I was talking about Vanessa Carlton's New York apartment.  This is the vintage print I own that reminds me of her grandfather's art. 

It used to hang in the South Chicago Public Library and now it resides with me. As you can see it has some water damage, but it just goes along with the other old, crumbling things that I love.

Home Profile: DavidmetNicole

Sydney home belonging to David and Nicole Page. This home comes along with one of those "it was fate" love stories. Nicole was working in London as a buyer for an antique shop. David was working at a store owned by the same man, but it took them two years to meet each other. Obviously it was meant to be, as they came together to start their own business, DavidmetNicole. 

I have a crush on this creative couple, and would love to own a business like this with Mr.M. He is obsessed with his line of work at the moment, but I'm not giving up.

A 1920's Spanish lamp hangs over the dining room table.

The curtain is actually an old Moroccan blanket, and the piece above the door was salvaged from a broken mirror.

1920's portraits hang over a mantle. The fireplace is non-working, so dozens of romantic candles take the place of a fire.

I love their collection of vintage light bulbs.

An old cupboard holds various vintage dishes.

Vintage textiles are draped over the bed to create a romantic nest.

David created the lighting installation that sits on a vintage table.

An old ladder serves as a holding spot for Nicole's vintage shoes.
