Happy Thanksgiving 2008

     

We will be taking the next four days off since we have to travel to visit our family for Thanksgiving.  The first year the boy and I were in LA we didn't have enough money to fly home and I didn't realize turkeys took that long to defrost.  So I balled my eyes out a little and then the boy took me to Weinerschnitzel for dinner. 

He made me laugh and dried my tears, which is all that is important anyway. So here is to hoping you are surrounded by love tomorrow whether you are eating turkey or hot dogs.

*The bag above is the Big Heart Tote by Marc Jacobs. Did I mention it comes in a nude shade too? But something about those hearts throbbing in that delicious violet color is calling to me.

**I will have the new blogroll & a couple other updates up on Monday morning.  I have some packages arriving Saturday that have me excited, so hopefully I'll be able to share those too.

Home Tour: AnnaKim Violette

   

I've been taking my time this morning drinking in the crazy/beautiful home of artist Annakim Violette. Her wardrobe is amazing.

Sparkling vintage chandeliers appear in almost every room.

Look at this gorgeous before and after that I came across.

 

 

This lovely wall is part of the Vintage Laundry Studio located in Austin, Tx.  Owner LeAnn Stephenson has a how to on her blog if you would like to try to recreate it.

 

She also gave this french style vintage chair a makeover in bright pink linen. Swoon, swoon, swoon.

This looks like the set of an old Hollywood film.  A bit much for everyday life but wouldn't it be fun?

I wanted to add an end note to the day as I get ready for a whole weekend with the boy. We have various projects in the works including a series I want to do for the blog. 

On my to do list:

*Learning how to work my new MacBook and finally give my 6 yr old desktop a rest

*Get my new scanner hooked up(another early Christmas present)Whoop!

*Work on project for the blog which includes cleaning out my closet

*Finding an outfit that will work for all three parties we have to attend Saturday night. That is if we don't fall down before midnight.

John Derian Holiday Line for Target

 

Another collection of John Derian products will be hitting the shelves of Target just in time for the holidays. Expect to see more melamine trays, small plates and glass ornaments with a nature theme.

Have you had a chance to visit The Nest? I started receiving emails from them when I signed up at the knot when we got engaged.

I haven't had a chance to really look them over since we got married so after the last emailI clicked through. They have grown immensely and now there are all kinds of DIY tips, home tours, advice columns and decor pictures for inspiration.

Check out this tour of  Julian and Sabrina's Victorian home in San Francisco. Not only is their home bursting with color but Sabrina is cute as a button as well.

The are some hang ups with the navigation of their website.  It took me forever to go back to the home tours and to dig through links to find other things I had seen.  I would like to be able to enlarge their decor images as well.

You can also subscribe to their quarterly magazine that features couples such as Derek and Lauren of The Curiosity Shoppe.

Les Puces de Saint-Ouen(Clignancourt flea market) Part II

 

The antique clothing vendors were my favorite part of the Clignantcourt flea market in Paris.  Again, you were not allowed to photographs items inside, but I was determined. 

 

This stall was my favorite and I almost cried from the sheer beauty of it all. The clothing was for the most part from the 1900's-1940's, and each piece was more exquisite then the last.  Watercolor silks, burnished velvet, intricate lace, and soft lawn cottons. 

  

I managed to get a few photos while she was distracted by another customer before she kicked me out. I would wear the white top(children's dress?) in the middle as a mini dress with black tights. 

 

Ah, the ruffle detail on the top of the sleeve. Unfortunately this shop will have to be a wonderland museum for me since I couldn't afford the museum quality prices.

 

The majority of this vendor's stock was from the 50's-80's. How cute is that polka dot skirt?
