Jovovich-Hawk for Target Review

On the way up to my sister's wedding I stopped at a Target that had most of the Jovovich Hawk stuff already out.  Since we were in a hurry I just grabbed what caught my eye and finally got a chance to try it all on last night.

 

I think the chevron striped tunic will be the only item I'm keeping.  As you can see from my picture, this top is a lot longer than it appears on the model(I'm 5 ft 7).  Otherwise it fits true to size. If I keep it, I will use it as a mini dress during the summer with flip flops.  Perfect for the hot days when you don't want to be wearing anything at all.

I didn't have time to take pictures of everything, but I'll give a mini review of what I tried on.

I actually drove to another store to find this in a bigger size, and it still didn't fit right in my armpit/being able to stretch area.  It just kept getting bigger in the body.  Sad.  I've noticed I have the same problem with all of the fitted items in the Go Target collections.

This is another item I get keep going back and forth on.  It fit true to size.  The back is really cute on, but can I get something cuter at F21 for the same price?

I was most disappointed with this dress.  I thought the it was going to have an uneven hem, and it was cut straight across.  Also, I had to size up, as the waist band is like 2 inches wide.

I have no idea who the fit model was for this dress.  I don't even think they used a human being or they would have known there were fit issues.  There was huge gaping at the chest area, even when I sized down.  Also, the hem came well above my knees, and for that style I liked the length they showed on the model.  If you are a well endowed petite girl, this is the dress for you.

This didn't look right on me as a dress because it has shirt tail hem.  It would work better as a top for me, but I think I wore myself out a couple of years ago with this look.  Fit true to size.

This actually looked really cute on, but it itched me like crazy.  Plus I already have a similar lacyvintage dress that also itches like crazy, so I'll just stick with the $2 version.

This holiday always makes me think about the character Valentine O'Neil in Scruples, a novel by Judith Krantz.  If you haven't read any of her work yet, start with this one.  She writes great trashy novels filled with descriptive  passages on fashion and fabulous careers.

We don't normally celebrate Valentine's Day because our anniversary falls on the 17th.  Instead the boy is going to pick up sushi from our favorite place, which we get to enjoy while watching Lost. 

As for the clothing, I'm most likely going to stick with the black shoes, as I think the red patent takes away from the skirt.  I love the way over the top looks in photographs, but in real life I think I'm a less is more kind of girl.

I'm sure my thrift collector card is being revoked as I type.  F21 is my archilles' heel, and I try to stay away from our mall(If you saw my mall, you would understand this is actually an easy feat).  I stopped in there yesterday and came across the vintage style cardigan.  The dusky white pink color is what got me and I tossed it over my arm with the other 1500 items. 

After fighting to the back of the store the dress stopped me in my tracks and I grabbed that too.  When I got into the dressing room I realized that the sweater echoed the beigy pink tones of the flowers and purple grey of the background. 

So yeah, I'm wearing both pieces together, no high-low here mix here, it is a mass retail extravaganza.  I think my "What taste you might have had" card just got revoked too. If I was wearing H&M pieces it might be  forgiven, but F21 is the closest thing we have in this one horse town.

I love this pattern so much-the nude washed out colors, the white dots, the star like flowers. 

It looks a bit Chloe, who always looks a bit vintage, so it is all good.

Playing with Proportions

I can't get this coat to photograph in the outfit shot, sorry the picture is so dark.  If I make it lighter, it washes out everything else in the picture.  I think the cropped style of this coat would probably work best over a dress, but since I want to get more wear out of it I'm trying to work it in with denim.

MAC N Collection

MAC's new N Collecton centers around nude colors, my favorite.  I liked the taupe look combined with black in this picture so I tried to translate it into an outfit.

-1930's brass chain with roses and leaves that was used to hold your fur coat on your shoulders. I'm wearing it as a lariat style necklace.

The Edge of Love

From what I can see of the production photos, I'm going to like the fashion in the movie The Edge of Love.  It stars Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller, stuck in a love triangle with poet Dylan Thomas, played by Matthew Rhys.  I know the camps are divided, but I'm in the one that still likes Sienna and Keira even if their fashion choices have veered off course from time to time.

The weather has been so strange the last 2 days, with temperatures reaching 70 degrees.  Today is not as nice as yesterday though, a storm is coming and the wind is rattling my windows.

My sweater has a Biba-eque sleeves, with button detail along the wrists.

Sorry for such a late post.  I need to learn to type them up the night before, but I never know when inspiration will strike.  I'm going to a party tonight, and I'm feeling Moulin Rouge.  The halter and skirt are probably a bit too precious together, but it is really plain in the front.

The Party Store

I didn't realize how difficult it would be to build my own clothing website.  After many nights of pulling my hair out and gnashing of teeth, I've decided to list my items on Etsy.  We are working on loading images and descriptions, but here is a sneak peek of some of the goodies.  There will be party frocks, furs, jewelry, and clutches just in time for the holidays. 

And every girl needs some boots!
