I'm attracted to the quirky ensembles in this editorial shot by Arthur Elgort for Glamour magazine. After going through a cardigan phase, I'm happily embracing pull on sweaters again. This season the funkier the design the better, and lots of marled knits thrown in there as well.

It took all I could not to purchase all the sparkly pieces from Revlon's new Expressionists by Gucci Westman Collection. Instead I picked the most minimalist item, Smoky Canvas, a cool medium grey nail polish with just a hint of purple undertone. I love this color!

I loved all the shaggy sweaters in this collection, but seeing their prices on Moda Operandi this morning quickly killed any idea that one of them might end up in my closet. I really wanted the first sweater, and based on this one from Fall 2011, I thought the price would be in the $600 range. Nope, more like $1,218.

I pointed out Garance Dore to my assistant extraordinaire while we were at Lincoln Center. This of course meant he was going to dash over to take her picture while I cowered behind a pillar. I'm not sure she was too thrilled at first about having her picture taken, but as I've mentioned before, it is hard to turn down my husband.
Me: So what do you think of her?
Him: She's a hottie! I like her smile.
Me: (discreetly pointing to Scott Schuman) That photographer is her boyfriend.
Him: Oh yeah, I already figured that out.
Lol. He's a keeper, that one.

Ironically, all of the pieces that I loved from the Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 collection were the ones least "sea" like. The black lace suit? That feather skirt with the peak-aboo corset back? The metal gloves with rings? Get.in.my.closet.

Based on my own personal tastes, this wasn't one of those Chanel collections where I squealed over the backdrop and every look. That being said, I'm infatuated with the liquid silver skirt.
I also love the arty graphic prints, which reminded me of this vintage silk dress I own. It is time for me to get the hem fixed and take it out on the town again.
I really wish there had been more pieces like the black dress and the one Florence Welch wore. I love the bead work and how great is the detail on the mint green dress?

I'm way behind on posting fashion show stuff, so I figure I'll just work my way backwards to New York.
Just when I call off all things twee, I go and succumb to Marc Jacobs's crisp confections of sweetness for Louis Vuitton. I have a hard time turning my back on tulle and organza, especially when you throw in lace.

I've been under the weather for the last two weeks and have a headache I can't seem to shake. I won't bore you with any more details, but I wanted to check in with everyone.
While I'm feeling a little better I thought I would share pictures I took of Maryam Nassir Zadeh's shop in New York. I blogged about wanting to visit back in 2009, and finally made it last month. I may have geeked out a little because Maryam was actually in the store;)
The store decor is sparse and perfect. No layer upon layer of displays, just things like gorgeous rocks and feathers placed as if in an art gallery. I pretty much wanted (and tried to buy) every piece.
I miss writing about design and hope to be back posting on the regular again!
