Thanks to Marlien, I might have to give the Madewell Widelegger jeans in Amarillo Wash another glance. Though if the temps this weekend are any indication of what is to come—going over 90 degrees–I will only want to wear the tiniest of breathable fabrics for the next couple of months.
We are heading to the Kentucky Derby, where the fun isn't limited to just one day. Since we have a lot to juggle the blog might not get updated until Monday. I'll be checking in on Twitter and hopefully will have some fun things to report!
I know these images of Kate Bosworth have been flying around the internet, but I thought she looked Derby perfect with her darling hats.
To be honest, the aesthetic at most decorator showcases doesn't usually jibe with mine. They tend to decorate every inch of space in a traditional/preppy style. So I was happy to see decorator Amanda Nisbet's fresh take at The Kips Bay Decorator Show House.
Granted the room doesn't leave much room for excess, which I think worked in her favor. Love the Marilyn Minter, modern pink wallpaper (that she designed herself), and fur throws that add dimension and femininity to the room.
From what I can see on NYTimes.com, all of the decorators did an excellent job of incorporating modern design into a traditional home.
A lovely email dropped in my mailbox from photographer Brie Williams, and I wanted to share some of her portfolio with you. There's a wide range of interiors, from airy spaces glowing with light to more structured rooms with attention to detail.
How dreamy are the green walls in that first picture? Can someone schedule me a vacation to an exotic locale effective immediately?
Domino Magazine's November 2008 issue remains one of my all time faves, and this spread is one of the reasons why. Stylist after my own heart Kim Ficaro and fashion director Lauren Goodman took the Turn this Outfit into a Room concept and ran with it. The result is an a gorgeous editorial along with Ariana Speyer's ability to convey the feeling of the pictures into words.
The Inspiration to take away:
1. Think refined yet effortless-not precious or "done" 2. Masculine and feminine mix 3. Lush Details-Accessorize your home 4. Combine Fancy with the informal

Our seasons here seem to go straight from steam bath heat to freezing, buttoned up to your nose cold. That glorious stretch of crisp yet sunny fall air filled with dazzling colors of gold and red squeezes in the middle for only a short time. This means taking a chance on pairing leather with bare arms and legs.
