Home Profile: Artist Mark Welsh

New York home of artist Mark Welsh. Last installment this week of rooms with vibrant patterns, warm palettes and textures. Not to say a house with this aesthetic won't pop up again;) 

I love his conservatory, which is decorated with a lucite table, dark brown sheepskin and pillows from John Robshaw.

 

More printed pillows on a ochre velvet sofa.

 

A vintage typewriter sits next to a resin piece designed by his partner, artist Jams Salaiz.

 

I like the combination of soft grey walls and fluffy sheepskin throw.

Home Profile: Kym Canter

 

The sumptuous Manhattan home of Kym Canter, the former creative director of J.Mendel. Lots of global patterns, lush textures and rich wood finishes.

Sorry some of the images are pixilated, but I edited the pages so you could see more detail.

 

I love the ornate mirror, and the sequin cape hanging from it;)

Home Profile: Designer Lydia Pearson

As promised, more inspirational images featuring pattern, vibrant color and gorgeous wood pieces. This Brisbane home belongs to Lydia Pearson, one half of fashion label Easton Pearson. Her 1960's home was cobbled together from vintage pieces and discarded items. I love that almost every room is filled with art by local artists and family friends.

Vintage wood sofa is covered in pillows from Rajasthan. 

 

A myriad of patterns bring the home's veranda to life.

Home Profile: Cindy Greene of Libertine

The New York home of  Cindy Greene, one half of the design duo behind Libertine. Something about her palette reminds me of our wedding. We used lots of rustic wood, black and creamy whites.

The butterfly wing collage behind Cindy is by artist Damien Hirst. I love the dark color of her floors.

 

Clean white walls make for a calm bedroom. Lucite lamp, night stand and silver radiator add shine.

 

Victorian chair upholstered in paisley fabric by Johnson Hartig(Libertine). More of Damien Hirst's work on her table. Hartig has the same sheep's heart sculpture.

Home Profile: Tamsin de Roemer

I love the delicate touches in the home of British designer Tamsin de Roemer. She used to design jewelry with Jade Jagger but now has her own clothing company, De Roemer. I've been looking at her site, swooning over the cashmere pieces with bell sleeves. I was also interested to read that a distant aunt was Alice Liddell, the model for Alice in Wonderland.

Tamsin found the asian style cabinet abandoned on Portobello road. 

 

I own similar vintage frames and I think I'm going to give them a wash in gold paint.

Home Profile: Alek Wek

Another warm and cozy home, this time belonging to model Alek Wek. I absolutely love the colors in the first image, along with the beautiful steps of a New York Brownstone. 

The rooms are a little cluttered, but hey, it is New York after all. Where does a collector manage to store all of his or her pretty things? The colors and textures of her belongings are gorgeous though.

Home Profile: Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquiere

 

It is hard to scan some of the older magazines, because the pictures can be so grainy and dark. Maybe that was the style back then, but now I'm so used to the light filled rooms that are in the International design magazines. 

Don't think I've forgotten about Domino magazine, their editorials were always go gorgeous and detail orientated. Though I do think Lonny Magazine is off to a great start, and I can see it getting better with every issue.

That being said, this is the best I could get of the Paris apartment that belonged to Nicolas Ghesquiere and Pierre Hardy. Since he showed his Balenciaga Spring 2010 line yesterday, I thought this would be a perfect time to pull this feature out. Such an interesting space, as it was one gigantic ball room in the mansion built for sculptor Barbedienne Fondeur. They converted into a loft like home, and added a kitchen and bathroom.

 

 

The candlesticks and lamp were purchased at a flea market.

Home Profile: Prada's Mathilde Agostinelli

Okay, time for a little glamour right? Prada publicist Mathilde Agostinelli's home epitomizes that with baroque antiques and flea market purchases. I could probably spend hours in her closet, trying on shoes.

I so want that lace dress laying on her bed(it is shown in the first image of her closet also).

Mathilde found the tufted pink bed at a Paris flea market(the bedroom actually belongs to her daughter).

The gorgeous rug is by designer Madeleine Castaing.

The sofa, in tufted pink velvet, was another vintage find.

Her jaw dropping collection of Hermes Birkins, in every color of the rainbow.

Home Profile: Designer Erin Fetherston

Well I was hoping to have posted designer's homes that corresponded to their show dates, but my scanner hasn't cooperated. 

This is Erin Fetherston's Paris home that was featured in Domino magazine a couple of years back. I love that she has so many dramatic pieces, but kept the rooms spare so they don't seem cluttered and fussy. You can see pictures from her Spring 2010 collection here.

Home Profile: Marc Jacobs in Paris

I thought it was fitting to show one of  Marc Jacob's first apartments in Paris. He is showing his Spring 2010 collection at the New York State Armory today at 8pm and I can't wait for the pictures.

I also want to pay respects to the photographer of this feature, Fernando Bengoechea. He lost his life in 2004 because of the Indian Ocean tsunami.
