Double Take: John Derian for Target Feathers Tray

I was browsing for vintage botantical prints online yesterday when I came across Panteek.com, which is chock-full of old book plates. I saw the Feathers print and was immediately OH YES! to Oh no:( when I saw it had already been sold. 

Lo and behold, as I was scouring John Derian for Target items on Gilt.com this morning, there was the lovely Feathers tray. I have the Art Deco tray from last year's collection, and this one may be joining it.

Double Take: Anthropologie Sprightly Steps Dress

So I'm browsing the Anthropologie site this morning and came across the Sprightly Steps Dress, which looked so familiar to me. After staring at it for several moments I remembered I sold that dress on Etsy, except mine was the original 1960's version.

Double Take: J.Crew Ikat Dot Blazer vs Thrift

Speaking of J.Crew, while scoping out their site I came across the Ikat Dot blazer. I had to do a double take because it reminds me so much of this dotted blazer I found while thrifting. 

 

They have the same irregularly shaped navy dots and shrunken fit. Mine has a nice thick weave made out of cotton but I like J.Crew's silk version as well.
 

Movie Inspiration: Broken Flowers & Chairs

 

I have one of those memories where I can't seem to remember my thoughts from 30 seconds before, but I can recall things from years ago with perfect clarity. Sometimes it works well for me, as when I spotted these chairs at a thrift store and remembered seeing similar ones in the movie Broken Flowers. 

It is an odd, slow type of movie, but I enjoyed it since I like Bill Murray's expertise at eye rolling and grouchy way of acting. Anyway, there is great set design throughout the movie.

 

They need to be recovered and a good rubdown with foil, but I couldn't pass them up since I'm attracted to metal furniture. I mean, it is shiny, does this come as a surprise? I just wish for once I would find a complete set of chairs! I always find just two, but I have to say finding three is worse. I always wonder what happened to that fourth chair. 

I had to include this image because it makes me laugh. Haven't we all had days like this?
