This early 40's dress is going straight to the tailor for mending, but I wanted to share a peek of the print. I resorted to old school style blogging and took a picture of myself with an iphone in front of a mirror.
At first I thought this dress was from the 20's because of the drop waist and slouchy shape, but now I'm thinking maybe 1940's? It looks like it used to be black, but has now faded to a charcoal color with an almost tie dye effect. You know I love those exposed shoulders.
Notice the not for sale sticker? I asked nicely when they might be for sale, and she offered the set for $10. SOLD. I think they might be from the 30's or 40's.
I have no idea what I'm going to do with this piece of fabric, but it is the first thing I spotted at the flea market and it only cost me a $1. It is a charcoal linen fabric with gorgeous embroidery. I'm thinking about sewing it down the center of a larger coverlet to use on a bed. Any other ideas?
