Jumping for Joy

I've been debating for the last 2 weeks if I should put in my notice at my full time(all the time?) position. I've been stretched to the limit working 80 hours in a toxic atmosphere and trying to plan a wedding. In the mean time my house has fell into complete disarray and it may take a 20 man crew to get in back in order.

Then I read about Victoria putting in her notice to take a leap into full-time blogging. Then Lisa finally cutting loose from a job assignment with a difficult client. While this job has provided a lot of new friends and a dream honeymoon, it has also kept me from my true passions.

So I have quit, and I am now figuring out how to find my way back to what I love. I have some ideas in the works for the blog, which I'll be updating everyday again. I went to an estate sale this morning, which left me feeling giddy, shopping on a Friday afternoon when I felt like I should be at work. I found lots of pretty little things which I'll share with you on Monday. 

My bachelorette party will be tomorrow, and the plans are Sex and the City movie and then a swanky little sushi bar that turns into a tiny club at night. I'm excited and hope you have a great weekend as well!

Manon Gignoux

I would love to sit down and have a chat with stylist & designer Manon Gignoux.  She captures my favorite aesthetic-dark,dreamy, and tells a story.  I'm interested in hearing more about how she came up with her aesthetic:

The origins of my work can be traced back to my last year of study at France’s Duperré School of Applied Arts when I carried out a photographic study of the clothes worn by workers in the early 20th century and explored the "traces of wear and tear" on clothes.  Starting with details of a hundred or so photographs taken from books, I filled research notebooks and ended up with four themes: the "carpenter" or the traces of alteration, the "washerwoman" or the imprint of repeated movements, the "inside-out suit" or the dynamics of (de)construction, and the "woman shopkeeper" or the encounter between work clothes and everyday life and the way an object that is worn fits the body.

I could have sworn I blogged about Blonde Redhead before, since I have some pictures of their apartment in my Flickr folder.  I can't find the post, but since Domino has published more inside peeks of their home I thought I would post them here. They are from the February 2007 issue, which was a great one by the way.

Diana Dreamer Camera

 

My new "toy" camera, I can't wait to bring it to Paris. 

Dating back to the early 1960s, the all-plastic Diana camera is a cult legend - famous for its dreamy, radiant, and lo-fi images.

Wary Meyers newest interior-Linhardt Design Studio

I've been waiting for Wary Meyer's newest project to pop up on their website.  This is a departure from their usual colorful design, but it still retains their aesthetic. 

They helped Linhardt Design Studio, set up shop, and I'm so glad they did. I love the cool creamy tones against the natural rough wood.  Not to mention that the jewelry looks fantastic as well.

Everything in the store was made using reclaimed, recycled, salvaged, and repurposed materials.

Milk Magazine March 2008

Can we switch gears to talk about Milk magazine again?  I was in a business meeting and ducked into a nearby Barnes & Noble for coffee break aka stealth magazine hunt.  Imagine my shock and joy(yes, over a magazine, it is the littlest things), that Milk magazine was sitting there on the shelf.

I've only seen images online and this is the March issue, but I scooped it up. It is an amazing children's magazine, the editorials make it look like French Vogue for babies.

 

I think I need the lovely lady's polka dot scarf and wedge shoes.  The blue bird pillow in the rocker needs to be mine too. 

Beverly Hills 90210 Returns

This past fall during my downtime I got sucked into watching Beverly Hills 90210 reruns on soapnet(how addictiong is that channel?)  I got a chance to relive the good and the bad fashions, including work boots with your shorts, baby dolls in tiny flower prints, and slip dresses over tiny t's, and the choker necklace.

I guess I'm not the only reliving the 9o's as several componets have been returning to the catwalks.  Not only that, but they are bringing the show back, OC style.  I'm sure it isn't going to have the impact it had 18 yrs ago, but it will be fun to see how they spin it off.

I've been keeping my eye out for some of what now seems vintage items and here are some of my recent purchases:

A slip dress with a great print, true baby doll dress, and a skirt with a corset style lacing that is in the back.
